Each year, Reconciliation WA produces the memoirs of a long-standing champion in the reconciliation movement.
In 2023, we sat down with Dr Richard Walley OAM to present his Reconciliation Memoirs, written in collaboration with Victoria Laurie.
Dr Walley is a Noongar man and respected Elder, musician, and cultural leader who has been instrumental in the reconciliation movement in Australia. Dr Walley has been a prominent advocate for the recognition and celebration of Aboriginal culture and traditions, and has used his music and art as a way to promote understanding and healing between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians.
He has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the arts and reconciliation, including the Order of Australia Medal in 1991. As one of the most esteemed and enduring champions of the reconciliation movement, Dr Walley’s memoirs offer a unique insight into his experience and perspectives.
